The most important part of human civilization is Agriculture. Just a few decades ago peoples were dying due to starvation. But due to introduction of high yielding varieties of Wheat, Rice, Maize and other crops now makes us sufficient in food production. The introduced gene pool which have been diploid for high yielding programme are in a saturation point. There is no more scope of new genes that could increase the production......But chances are there...At least 30% of the crop loss is due to pest and disease.So there is a chance to go for all sorts of breeding programme to protect the crops. New technology that could reduce the crop loss.....
